Description

Elephant Head Trail is a popular out and back trail that leads directly out to the west. This is a fun singletrack with a variety of terrain. From the bench overlooking Split Rock Bay there is a singletrack trail basically following the spine of the ridge. Note: there is a small technical section around the halfway point which will force many riders to do a tiny bit of walking but for the most part the trail is very rideable - just a bit more challenging than the trail that got you here.

Stop and take in the views of the island and the Great Salt Lake once you reach the western side of Elephant Head Trail. The trail starts getting very rocky/technical the farther you venture towards split rock bay, so most people pick a nice spot and head back to the bench.

Some tricky spots. Had to carry bike. Mosquitoes were swarming and humongous. Gorgeous view. 1.4mi
