Park Closed: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Description

Current trail status is available on trianglemtb.com or by calling the park office at 919-387-4342.. Scheduled rides and volunteer workdays are planned by Triangle Off-Road Cyclists, (TORC) and can be found on Meetup at meetup.com/torc-nc/.

Access this trail from the Beginner Loop or from the Hog Run parking lot. This trail offers great views of Harris Lake. There are few short climbs and drops to help new riders develop the skills needed to enjoy the remainder of this park. This trail can be ridden in either direction, but flows a bit better when ridden counter-clockwise. While you are near the Hog Run parking lot, visit the mountain bike skills area which has challenges for riders of all experience levels.

The second half of the loop has a slightly tougher grade than the lower section, but there is a bailout to allow riders to return to the parking areas. The trail portion near the lake has many roots and can be a challenge for new riders. The trail passes the site of an old homestead. In the early spring, there is a large stand of daffodils around the old homesite. There is also a small wooden jump on the trail.

Recently a section of the trail has been relocated to take advantage of a natural drainage dip, as well as providing additional trail mileage.
