Description

This section of the trail is what makes Staunton State Park worth the visit. The trail begins at the 4-way intersection of Staunton Ranch Trail, Bugling Elk Trail, and Border Line Trail. Pedal uphill for the first 1/2 mile, and stay right at the intersection of Scout Line Trail, a hikers only trail.

An easy but steady climb for 2/3 of a mile brings you to the top of a beautiful lookout that overlooks Lion's Head. From here, the fun downhill begins. Traverse the side of the mountain and climb quickly to another overlook and descend the final 3/4 of a mile to Elk Falls Pond.

This trail can also be ridden in reverse direction.
