Starting at the locked gate at the end of Rollinson's Road, the Swampy Summit Road climbs via one very long switchback to the summit of Swampy Ridge. The road is closed to private vehicles, but watch for service trucks that might be working on the aircraft guidance equipment at the top.

The views along the ride improve all the way to the summit, where the Silver Peaks, Dunedin area, and inland Otago sprawl beneath you. A worthwhile ride just for the views! This road is in good shape and offers no technical challenges, but the climb up is no picnic!
