Starts at the south end of Elkwater Campground and ends at Murray Hill Road at the top of the plateau. Climbing steadily through mixed and lodgepole pine forest, an informal viewpoint 1/3 of the way up overlooks Elkwater Lake.

Mitchell Trail lies south of Elkwater Lake and east of Ferguson Hill Road. This expert-level trail can be cycled as a point-to-point or as a loop utilizing Mystery Trail. It is a great trail for riders that like a challenging downhill ride, with a touch of danger thrown in. It drops steadily, and steeply, and includes some badly washed-out sections from the floods of 1995. Partway down the hill, there is a nice view of Elkwater Lake in the distance, and the trail passes through a pleasant mix of aspen and lodgepole pine. Don't spend too much time looking around, though, as you'll need all your concentration for the technical sections.
