Description

The latest addition to Harbins Park, this trail smooth and wide. Not singletrack, but not as wide as a lot of doubletrack. The trail has a 1.7 mi out-and-back section that connects to a 1.3 and 1.7 mile loop. Going in is generally downhill, making the return trip a good workout. There are several steep and intermediate climbs.

Leave the parking lot heading towards MB1, but take a left turn onto this trail, to a steep downhill run passing a cemetery on your left and into a little valley. This is the beginning of the 1.7-mi out-and-back segment. You can coast most of the way up the other side of the valley, then another little downhill to a short fairly steep climb. The ride to the loops is mostly downhill from here.

Exit the trees to an open brushy area. You'll come to a blind sharp left turn. Be sure to announce yourself to avoid a head-on collision. Reenter the woods, and you'll come to the first intersection and a map sign. This is the first loop (1.3 mi).

The 1.3 mi loop is descends and climbs, but has no remarkable features -- it is pretty typical of Harbins. I think it is slightly faster and easier riding CCW.

A couple hundred feet from the first intersection is a .3 mi trail connecting the back 1.7 mi loop. It has a long steep downhill section to a creek crossing, then a shorter climb up to the 1.7 mi loop.

This loop features a fairly long steep climb. Ride it CW to go down the hill, CCW to go up the climb.
