Overview

The reward for the hard effort is the amazing views.

Description

This is a great extension to the Honeybee Canyon Loop and ups the difficulty of the ride. The first couple miles are on a jeep road and a very steep climb. This is where you break out the granny gear. The views from the top are amazing. Stop for a break and a look around before plunging down the other side.

Take a left on the Loop Trail, which will take you right up to the Ridgeline Trail. The way up on the Ridgeline is narrow and exposed on one side. The trail is relatively smooth, with several switchbacks and tight turns. The saddle treats you to some amazing views to the south. Head down Ridgeline, again narrow switchbacks and some large rocks to go over. Take Ridgeline to a short section of Alamo Spring Trail, which will take you to Wild Burro.

Wild Burro has yet some more climbing, this time there are a few more difficult sections that are steep and up and over rocks. Wild Burro takes you back to where you entered on the Loop trail. Head back up the steep jeep road from here, the way you came in. From the top you can plunge back down to the Honeybee Canyon Trail and a fast easy ride back to the cars.

Great trail with magnificent views of the Catolina Mountains and Tucson. Lots of good climbing on sweet trails. — 2h 45m

The loop part of this ride is absolutely gorgeous. The drive sucks since the last 5 miles are on a rutted dirt road. 12.6mi — 1h 50m

Ridgeline and Wild Burro have grand vistas, ups and downs. Ranch road is terribly rutted (no sign for W Edwin) but passable if you go slow.
