River trail threads the needle between a large beaver dam and the Ausable river. The trail is prone to flooding when the river rises; accordingly, riding the trail can be tricky due to the sand, cobbles, and other debris left by flooding. The upside is that it's a great area to view wildlife. The pond behind the beaver dam is an active Heron rookery, and typically several nesting pairs can be viewed. Beavers are a common site in the summer time, especially in the evening, and the fishing along this stretch of the river is world-class.
