Description

Also known as FS Route 534, this road is very rocky, very steep, and is not a generally recommended route for mountain bikes. However, it can be useful as an access to or relatively quick exit from the Arbaney-Kittle Trail. The rocky sections often include large loose rocks, providing for a challenging descent. Uphill travel will include significant hike-a-bike sections for most riders. The lower southern end terminates on Lower River Road. You can find the Rio Grande paved bike path nearby.

If you do find yourself on this route, you'll be rewarded with immense views of the West Elk mountains, including the Capitol Peak and Snowmass Mountain 14ers. Over nearly 3,000 feet of vertical, you'll pass through dark timber, aspen forests, and shrub oak.

would give it zero stars if I could; super-deep dust, last 3ish miles are crazy steep and felt really unsafe; walked most of it - and I went downhill
