Description

Coming down from Horsenettle, Jacobs Ladder is a really fun downhill. Bear in mind that it is a 2-way trail, so ride in control because it gets pretty fast. There are 2 tricky switchbacks right at the top, but they are rideable. There are a good number of rocks throughout the upper portion of the trail and some of them are loose. Also some small tree root drops due to erosion, but nothing serious.

The middle section levels off a bit before heading downhill again. One section is a real tight squeeze between 2 trees. Erosion has taken a toll on the bottom of the trail, and there are several nasty short drops. Right near the end of the trail, there is a final nasty drop onto a some rocks. Make sure to watch out for these drops. They are not easy to see before you're on top of them!

The trail crosses the creek and meets up with Poverty Creek Trail on the other side. If it's been a dry season this creek crossing will be low or dry. If it's been wet, the crossing is doable but you'll get your shoes submerged.
