Overview

Views of the Arkansas River and Mt. Princeton highlight this loop as you rip around some of the best trail networks you'll find in Colorado. A nice lunch loop for anyone wanting to get a solid workout in without getting too far from town.

Ride it SOLO, bring a TEAM, or cheer on your buddies!

Need to Know

Check out Eddyline Brewery's Tater Tot plate with 3 amazing sauces, it is a MUST for post-ride refreshments.

Description

Enjoy 10 hours behind bars! This 11.5 mile looped race starts with a LeMans start followed by a short warm-up loop on the river trail before hitting the Arkansas River bridge and joining Whipple Trail to Whipple South. Enjoy a great view of the Arkansas River and keep an eye out for some rad locals surfing in the rapids below!

Next, turn right on CR 304 for a short road climb (LOTS of passing opportunities available here). Go straight after coming to the CR304 parking area and in about 100 yards, turn right onto Django instead of straight on to the Midland trail... Next sit back and enjoy a super well built trail with JUST the right mix of techy sections and wide-open fast sweeping turns. At the bottom of the trail, you'll cross CR304 and re-join the singletrack directly across the road and start climbing Fistful of Dollars. Climb until you hit the Ramsour South sign and make a left.

Ramsour has a great mix of off-camber turns that will keep you honest and rocky descents that roll easily with some confidence. Once you get to the Camp Elevation road, make a left for a very short section down the road and watch for Camp Elevation trail to bear right. The fun factor climbs as you descend to the Arkansas River and watch for a SHARP left on Bridge to Bridge to Bridge Trail. You'll be across the bridge and only blocks away from South Main refreshments in only minutes!

History & Background

The Midland Trail has many interesting kiosks that highlight the history of the railroad and its impact on Buena Vista, Leadville, and the high country.
