Need to Know

This is a high alpine adventure with your bike. Hike-a-bike should be expected. The trail tops out at 13,000 feet. Upper Crystal Lake is shaded and the high elevation can be cold.

Description

Crystal Lake Trail #44 is accessed from Crystal Lakes Road north of Crystal Lake. The lower half of the trail is climbable, but once past the switchbacks, it becomes progressively steeper and very loose, crossing talus fields continuously. The upper section of the trail flattens and can be ridden even though it is still comprised of scree and talus.

Descending is a bit hairy, but mostly rideable.
