Need to Know

This road is open to motorized vehicle traffic, though it may close due to poor conditions (usually late winter/early spring) or weather (particularly severe weather like tropical storms and such).

Description

There are lots of trails and gated gravel roads that start along this road, so it's an important connector through Bent Creek. The gravel starts with its intersection with Wesley Branch Rd near the Lake Powhatan Campground and the Ledford Branch parking lot. Grades are pretty gradual until just before it meets with the gated South Ridge Rd. when it starts to pick up. At this point, it's going to climb quite a bit up to Bent Creek Gap, where it crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway and intersects with Wash Creek Rd. (FR 5000).
