Family Friendly A wide trail with several trailheads allows families to ride as much or as little as they desire.

Description

This portion of the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail consists of compacted stone. This portion of the trail primarily follows the ridgeline.

The Meredith Trailhead is not visible from Highway 68/80. You must turn on a narrow gravel drive. After driving about 50 yards, you'll arrive at a gravel parking lot. From the parking lot, follow the trail into the woods a short distance before choosing to go west toward the Golden Pond Visitor Center or east toward the Sunset Trailhead.

A clearing for power lines marks the halfway point on this portion of the trail.

About 0.25 miles from the Sunset Trailhead is a historical memorial to the former town of Golden Pond, which was dissolved when the Tennessee Valley Authority created Land Between the Lakes.

Many people set out on this trail and ride a portion of it before retracing their route and returning to their vehicle.
