Usual common sense and freeze/thaw riding. Park entrance is closed from October-March but parking lot for trails, as well as trail usage, is permitted year round.

Overview

This loop has great views of the lake from almost every side, fun roller sections that, with enough speed, have decent jumps, small bridges, tight winding turns around large downed trees, and easy to navigate drop-in valleys.

Need to Know

The trail dries quite quickly; some low spots stay quite soggy but they are very short and can be bunny-hopped over. The trail is older and it has some fairly steep, technical climbs in spots but they are very short.

Description

The A Loop, now labelled "Blue", starts from the parking lot and heads into the woods to the east. It's great to warm up on and it only has one small spur of new trail. It does not add mileage but it bypasses some of a rooty uphill section and makes for a sweeping, smooth rolling alternative.

Once you get to the "end" of that section, you can take the first exit to the gravel road back up the hill to the parking lot or continue down the trail until it exits at the dock. From there, you cross straight over the gravel road and hit the B Loop, now labeled "Yellow".

From there, you go in about 200 feet and at the first junction you can either go straight for B Long (five miles, blazed yellow) or go right for B Short (three miles, blazed red).

There is a clearing that you'll come to, head diagonally (toward the lake) and you'll find where the trail continues. The trail crosses the gravel access road several times and the trail is easy to find, basically straight across in most cases and it ends back at the top of the trailhead by the parking lot.
