Overview

Highlights include the Holston Mountain fire tower, a nice ridgetop singletrack on Holston Mountain Trail #44, and the fantastic view of South Holston Lake from Flint Rock.

Description

Starting at the gate, climb FS Rd 56A for a mile up to Holston High Knob. At the top, you'll see the fire tower and the cutoff to Holston Mountain Trail #44. After mostly descending for around two miles, take a left on Flint Mill Trail #49. Follow this for half a mile to the Flint Rock overlook. Retrace your route back to Flint Gap and take a right on Flint Mill Gap Road 4202. Follow this back to the intersection with FS Rd 56A, make a right, and you'll be back at the gate.
