Family Friendly This trail is gorgeous, perfect for sightseeing. It's tough, though.

Since this is a trail built for hikers, be sure to give them the right of way at all times. There are also people who camp along the way so be cautious when passing campgrounds.

Description

This trail is steep. It's ridden as a climb or a descent depending on your desired ride. It takes off from Aspen Vista just before you get to the Big Tesuque creek. It is very popular with hikers so please be careful. The trail has many built in stairs that you'll have to be wary of if you are descending. Eventually, you'll get to a long "staircase" that can be daunting if you are at speed, so be careful. Also, please be very courteous to hikers as they always have the right of way.

The trail's grade will ease up once you get to the bridge and the campground. Try this ride in the fall as the leaves are changing. It's absolutely stunning!

Once you get to the bottom, you can take Lower Big Tesuque to the Winsor Trail or ride up the road to the Pacheco Canyon Road #102 to continue your ride.
