This forest road starts at the junction with the Pista Canal de Vergara and ends at the Aula en la Naturaleza Barranco de la Arena (Natural Classroom of the Sand Ravine).

From the intersection with the Pista Canal de Vergara, you'll enjoy a 300 m (1000 ft) downhill for five miles to the el Lagar recreation area where there are facilities and probably water. At the el Lagar recreation area, you'll begin climbing until you reach the Aula en la Naturaleza Barranco de la Arena where there are connections with other trails.

A lot of the trail is through the pine forest so you can expect some shade. There are breaks in the forest and the shade before you reach the el Lagar recreation area and some of these breaks offer vistas of el Teide. After el Lagar, the forest becomes thicker.
