The trail and parking lot are open daily from sunrise to 30 minutes past sunset. The lot has space for 8 cars (no handicap spots). Bicycles are allowed on the trail. No motorized vehicles. Stay on the trail to protect wildlife and yourself. Pets are permitted on a leash (6 or shorter).

Description

This rail trail uses the roadbed of a former Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad line. The roundtrip distance is 4.7 miles. It is flat and mostly free of obstacles, which make it especially easy to navigate. There are no restrooms or potable water sources available, so come prepared.

There is a separate entrance to the parking lot off of County Line Road just north of the main West Beach entrance. There is no access fee for this parking lot.
