Avoid during deer hunting season

DNR Off-Road Cycling Permits are Required

Trails may be closed for timber harvests (obey any trail closed signs).

Need to Know

The trail is in Yellowwood State Forest. State Forests are managed differently that State Parks. State Forests manage the nature resources, which includes timber harvests. Trails may be closed at times when timber harvests are active near the tails. Please obey any trail closed signs you may encounter on Forestry Property.

Hunting is also allowed on State Forest property. Please wear bright colors during hunting season and avoid during Deer gun season.

This trail is considered back country. The good news is that it will be less crowded than the trails in the State Park, but you'll also be much further away from rescue. Please be self sufficient and ride with others. Cell phone coverage is spotty (best chance is on the ridge tops).

There are no faculties at Crooked Creek Lake. A good launch point (that has facilities) is the Nature Center in Brown County State Park. Use the 10 O'Clock MTB Trail to connect to the Crooked Creek area.

Description

The Crooked Creek Loop is an expert level backcountry trail that loops around Crooked Creek Lack in Yellowwood State Forest. Expect rocks, log features, roots, steep climbs/descents, drops, and more on narrow hand build trails.

Please be prepared as this trail will take you deep into Yellowwood State Forest, where access and services will be limited.

There are several access points to the trail that allow you to start the loop in different locations, to ride specific sections of the trail. The main access points are at the Crooked Creek Lake and the Intersection of the 10 O'Clock MTB Trail and Miller Ridge.

Fun trail with tech and flow. Watch out for off camber rock sections after rain - they were greasy! 13.1mi

I bit off more than I could chew and popped out to the Miller Ridge trail after the initial climb, then dropped back in on the way back. 4.1mi — 0h 49m

Starts to say but nasty drainage grossing and ton of deadfalls add challenge. They real old fast though.

Really fun, some hard sections but nothing impossible. Fall leaves make it hard to see the trail in places. 2mi
