Description

After parking at the large Quarry Trail Lot off of South Bay Blvd., you'll look south of the parking lot for a small trailhead that heads up a hill parallel to South Bay Blvd. The first climb is short, steep, and a bit loose. It then is relatively flat for about a 1/4 mile while it follows alongside the road. There will be a fork at this point, stay left and continue up the hill on Live Oak Trail. The other trail is a connector to the Park Ridge Trail and the other parking lot.

This is a gentle climb on singletrack with some loose ground, follow until you hit the next fork just before entering the oaks. Stay to the left, as the trail to the right is another connector to the Park Ridge Trail. The climb through the oaks can be quite sandy at times, so be prepared to potentially get stuck. Also be wary of ticks after the ride, even if you don't come in contact with the brush they do have a tendency to get me.

Continue up the hill until you come to the 4-way intersection. Off to the right is the start of the Canet Trail and the left is the Portola Trail loop. Stay straight on the trail. You'll go down a gentle slope and then back up where you'll connect to the Quarry Trail, take a left on Quarry here to go back to the parking lot.
