The West Side Trail in Yarmouth is the newest multi-use trail in the Portland area. The trail is built primarily on the Central Maine Power transmission corridor which runs from the tip of Cousins Island to North Yarmouth along the western border of Yarmouth. It's not your typical power line trail, however. Very little of the trail is on an existing service road and much of it resides inside the tree line. Experienced riders will find the singletrack trail fun, flowy and not particularly technical (other than a few tight switchbacks). Beginner riders will find some sections challenging but are encouraged to give it shot.
