Description

Summit Gulch Road (GH 74) begins on Tiger Road across the road from the dredge parking area. It is useful as a connection to, or between Galena Ditch Trail and ZL Trail.

Climb initially from Tiger Road, passing Galena Gulch Road (GH 77) on the right. Pass through a drainage, climb past a home on the right then another drive on the right. Look for Galena Ditch Trail on the left through a timber chicane.

A 1/2 mile above Galena Ditch Trail the road connects to ZL Trail at another wooden chicane on the left side of the road.

Above the ZL Trail junction, Summit Gulch Road becomes increasingly steep, rocky and nearly unclimbable. The road passes through a trail intersection on the right with Summit/Galena connector, which leads back to Galena Gulch Road.

After passing a junction on the left with Spruce Road (GH 72) the grade mellows, topping out at the top of Sawmill Road (GH 22), Fuller Trail (GH 44) and Spruce Road (GH 72) - aka Heinous Hill.

Riding north the road makes an extremely loose, rocky descent from the top of Heinous Hill.

One of those doubletrack roads that gets you where you need to go. Boring. Just a climb and nothing fun.
