Description

Elk Creek Trail leaves Elk Creek Road, crosses a lush meadow and Elk Creek. Look for a sign post marking the start of the trail. Once across the Creek, the trail follows an old closed road briefly then becomes singletrack. The trail climbs gently at first and gradually gets steeper, but nothing to bust the lungs.

The trail can be covered with thick vegetation at times and there is often deadfall from an old forest fire, especially near the top of the trail. Expect several shallow stream crossings along the way.

To access the CDT: Elk Creek Trail ends at a forest road, cross the road there to get on the upper end of Hogan Creek Trail. It is about one mile from there up to the CDT.
