Description

This trail starts off as singletrack branching off from the Middle Gate trail. The singletrack winds through the foothills of the Catalinas with rocky climbs and descents working its way to Cherry Tank. The terrain changes slightly after a dry creek crossing and winds along an exposed trail following the creek. Test your skills on this rocky, narrow, tree lined up and down section. Enjoy it while you can because after a mile or so you pop back out into the all too familiar desert landscape with beautiful views back towards the Catalinas, down valleys and across Oro Valley to the west.

Continue on the now easier section of singletrack to Cherry Tank. From the tank it is all jeep roads to Charleau Gap Rd. Make sure to follow the GPS since there are multiple roads branching off on the way down. Once at Charleau Gap Rd make the decision to continue climbing the grueling 3+ miles to the Gap or turn your wheels downhill for a fast fun, technical in some places, jeep road descent. If you parked at Golder Ranch take Lago del Oro Parkway south to Golder Ranch Rd. Hang a left on Golder Ranch Rd and climb the hill back to the car.
