Description

Starting from Forest Service road (FS5050), climb up next to Hancock Creek. The trail will bend right before opening up into a field. Turn sharp to the left and back into the trees. Climb steadily with several technical rock gardens. As it crests you'll see another forest road (FS77) to your right.

At the split stay to the left to continue down. Notice the view of Benton, TN on the right. Going to the right will exit the woods onto FR77. The trail starts to descend quickly for a bit. The trail becomes the creek, weaving back and fourth across the cold spring fed waters. Two bog bridges help to cross Slick Rock creek followed by a short uphill before descending again. Soon it connects back to a forest road (FS5050). This is part of the Slick Rock Laurel Loop. Going to the left will take you to the point you started the Hancock loop.
