Sections through Bergen County must be walked.
Overview
A rocky loop in Ringwood. This route hits some good climbs and descents with a couple of the nicer view points thrown in. A few sections of smoother trails and a couple of spots where you can get some speed up but mostly standared Northern NJ rockiness.
Need to Know
40psi in your tires at least recommended or tubeless tires.
Description
Park at Ryerson Middle school and take the trail behind the fence. This turns into the
Red Trail, stay left on red when the singletrack turns off the road. Follow
Red Trail on singletrack and doubletrack and into longer climb through some switchbacks and ends at a cool viewpoint.
Then it's a short walk across the
Green Trail over the
Yellow Trail and then you can start riding again when you leave Bergen County. After that, it's a gradual technical uphill on the yellow trail to another nice viewpoint, then a technical mostly dowhnill with a more technical option to the right eventually T-ing onto the Blue Trail.
Left on the blue leads to a ripping DH and then it's back onto the
Red Trail where you turn right. After the stream crossing with the delapidated bridge, turn right on the un-marked trail and enjoy the Cat's nest/ Renegade Trail that ends on a road.
Go down this road and then turn right when it T's into the next road. Climb up this past the stone house ruins and then take a left on some singletrack switchbacks. At the top turn left onto the Skylands trail, then stay straight on the fun NJ rocky trail along Skylands and Warm Puppy back to the school.
