Description

Like the rest of the Art Roscoe Trail system, Christian Hollow is a ski trail that is designated for mountain biking in summer. Although these trails are wide enough to run a groomer, by summer most sections have a singletrack worn down the middle, so they don't really have that two-track feel.

Christian Hollow is the middle of the three loops accessed from the Summit Trailhead. It starts from the main trunk trail at the same spot that Sweetwater ends.

It starts with a fun, somewhat winding downhill that allows you to pick up quite a bit of speed. As it runs out onto the ridge, there's a short, sharp uphill that brings you around to the other side of the ridge. The park maintains (by pruning) a nice view westward of the Cattaraugus County hills just after this turn.

After the view, enjoy your last downhill, as it is now time to regain all that downhill you enjoyed on the way out. A not steep but still grinding climb brings you back up to the top at the trunk trail. Alternatively, several hundred yards before the end, you can take the cut over to Leonard Run, as is used in the annual Raccoon Rally MTB race.
