These trails are on private land. Nonresident access requires a day pass ($5) or monthly trailpass ($10/individual, $30/family); 2026 prices.

Use the Farm Entrance to Millican Reserve at 19851 FM 2154. Follow signs down the gravel road to Basecamp. The large grass field to your left is available for parking. Do not proceed past the Farm Gate, even if it's open. One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Description

From the Launch Trail, Phase 1 is the first segment of the original trails at Millican Reserve. Like the other trails in the area, the trail darts in and out among the trees, taking advantage of small grade changes to introduce some technical variability. But the trail is rarely straight for more than 20 feet and occasionally sandy, so carry speed with caution if you're not familiar with the trails. There are a couple of north shore-style wooden bridges, 2-3 feet wide.

About a mile into Phase 1, you can take Phase 1 Shortcut to cut about 0.5 miles off the trail. The half mile is not any more technical than the rest of the trail, so the only reason to take the shortcut is to reduce overall mileage.
