Description
The Soest MTB route (approximately 23 km and 200 m of elevation gain) was commissioned by the municipality of Soest and includes a connecting route from Amersfoort that can be ridden as an additional loop (approximately 6 km). The route is very varied and passes through several wooded areas connected by paved sections. The route lies on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and follows a moraine characteristic of the Heuvelrug (near De Bergjes and De Paltz). The remaining elevation gain is due to drifting dunes that have become forested. The basic route has an NTFU difficulty rating of medium/color code blue. At De Bergjes, there is an optional loop of approximately 2 km with a difficulty rating of difficult/color code red. The descent on this loop is full of challenging terrain such as tables, rollers, and a few challenging drops. There is a shortcut option on the route that eliminates the northernmost loop of approximately 7 km.
