Overview
This out-and-back trail is an excellent ride if you're camping at Master Spring Campground. The route winds along mostly singletrack with a few creek crossings, which vary by season. Springtime riders are treated to blooming wildflowers and expansive views. Be prepared for occasional downed trees that may require short hike-a-bike sections.
Description
Begin your ride at Master Spring Campground, located along the Chewaucan River just outside Paisley, Oregon. The campground is currently $6 per night (first-come, first-served, cash only—check current rates before your trip).
From the campground, turn left onto the main road and pedal a short distance to the day-use area. You'll cross a wooden bridge over the river, then continue briefly on doubletrack before turning sharply right onto the singletrack trail to begin the climb.
About halfway up, you'll encounter a cattle gate—please leave it as you found it. The trail continues to climb steadily, offering panoramic views and spring blooms. Since this is an out-and-back ride, turn around whenever you're ready and enjoy the descent back to camp.
