Overview

Whether you're a seasoned rider or just looking for a peaceful climb, this route showcases some of the best mountain biking Flagstaff has to offer.

Description

Begin this loop at the Schultz Creek Trailhead, located just off Schultz Pass Road. Follow the trail along Schultz Creek as it winds its way up the drainage through ponderosa and Aspen forest. The trail climbs gradually on good quality dirt. There are occasional rocky sections but the majority of Schultz Creek is beginner friendly.

You'll stay on Schultz Creek Trail for approximately 4 miles, with an elevation gain of about 800 feet, before turning onto Swell Trail. Swell will climb up into the heart of the Dry Lake Hills and the start of Lunar Tide, formerly Jedi trail. The downhill on Jedi is exciting and offers some fun alternate lines down rock faces. At the bottom you'll rejoin Schultz Creek. Plenty more fun will be had on the cruiser descent of Shultz back to the trailhead.
