Overview

Ben's Down N Out is an intriguing descent that's filled with jumps, drops, and berms, but still plenty of technical rock features and gnar. It's a unique mash-up that aggressive riders are sure to find engaging! And if you're not up for all of the jumps and drops, no worries — the biggest features can be bypassed.

The route shown here is one of the best ways to loop Ben's. After finishing Ben's, this loop follows a mix of singletrack back down toward the main trailhead.

Description

This ride begins from the Horse Gulch trailhead by climbing the road to reach the bottom of Rocky Road. Climb Rocky Road, but before reaching the top of the ridge, take the right turn to continue following Rocky Road up via a more mellow traverse trail. This will take you further up the ridge toward the top of Ben's.

At the end of Rocky Road, turn right to drop into Ben's Down N Out . Enjoy the ripping downhill, and be sure to scout the biggest features before you hit them.

At the end of Ben's, you could coast back down the road to the trailhead, but what's the fun in that? Instead, take a left to climb a short ways up the road, and then a right on the connector trail to reach Cuchillo. Take a right on Cuchillo to drop into another fast, ripping descent.

The route shown here follows the short but sweet Drop Over trail to reach the flowy descent down Cap's .

Once back at the benches, now it's time to coast out on the road.

At this point on the trail it is a good idea to hang a hard right. Most of the exposure is psychological. You would have to work fairly hard to go off the trail but definitely intimindating for less experienced riders.
