Overview
This loop is a blast and depending on how much energy you have, can be lapped 2 or 3 times. It combines wide open flowy downhill with a little bit of tech through beautiful forests.
Description
Once you reach Marion on Hwy 2, turn right onto Pleasant Valley Rd. Take a right on Griffin Creek Rd FS 538. After several miles up and over the pass, park at the Lupine Lake trailhead sign
Ride the
Lupine Lake Trail #210 (NRT) until the
Ashley Mtn. Trail #310 junction. Take a right and climb to the top of Ashley Mountain. As you begin the descent, the Ashley Mtn trail splits left. Take a right onto the Ashley Peak Trail for only a few hundred yards until you see the
Pine Grass trail off to your right. Have a blast descending the
Pine Grass trail all the way until it runs into the
Muddy Bottoms trail.
Take a right on
Muddy Bottoms and ride it all the way until you reach the Lupine Lake trail again and then decide whether you want to do another lap or head back to your car. Be ready to hike for only a couple hundred yards around the MUD!
