Road up up to the trailhead on the Storm Castle side is gated until late June

Need to Know

This trail tops out around 10,000 feet, so there will likely be some snow until at least July most years

Description

This trail climbs up the back side of Divide Peak, from forested singletrack lower down to rougher alpine riding near the top. The climb is a long one, but not too grueling. Some short hike a bike sections but most of the trail is manageable to pedal. Bighorn sheep seem to love the west basin of Divide Peak so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife! At the top, take in beautiful views of Hyalite and the surrounding mountain ranges. On a clear day the view is quite spectacular! Then bomb down the front side of Divide. The trail is chunky near the top and provides a good challenging descent, then runs a bit faster and smoother down lower. This trail can be done as a shuttle from Storm Castle to Hyalite, or can be ridden as an out and back from Hyalite Lake.
