This is a route that's a gradual start to Atalaya Mountain, doesn't go all the way up, but gives tremendous views!

Overview

Tight turns, steep grades, a lot of singletrack, and if done in thewinter be aware that the northern exposure has all season long a thin layer of snow and sometimes ice. This route favors those who seek elevation, views, high elevation air in their lungs, and integration of several of the local trails.

Description

It's 7,000-8,000 feet so go slow up and stop to catch air and a view or two. Heading down is swift, tight turns, and if done on the weekend there are plenty of hikers heading to the Atalaya Mountain peak. This is a route that can lead to a lot of variation and at the same time creative options for training in the Santa Fe area.
