Description

This new (2022) singletrack connects the main trail system to the beach area at Lake Rutledge. From the Red Loop the trail begins on an old road bed; you'll cross an abandoned 2 lane highway bridge that dates from 1941. After a half mile a sharp left turn takes you into more than 3 miles of newly cut singletrack with mostly gentle climbs and descents.

There are a couple of road crossings to be aware of including the heavily trafficked Fairplay Road. There are also several short bridges and two creek crossings; you might stay dry if you're careful. The character of this trail is similar to the others at Hard Labor Creek State Park with mostly hand cut singletrack and lots of roots but otherwise nothing too technical. As of yet there no MTB trails that connect to the eastern terminus at the beach area.

Pleasantly surprised. A few trees down, but generally in good shape. Trail is new.
