Peavine Trail: Chino Valley Section

Parking is free at the trailheads. There is no water or bathroom facilities. This section of the trail is very well signed.

This is a piece of the same railroad grade that makes up the Prescott Peavine Trail, but several miles north. Hopefully, one day they will connect and continue farther north.

The north end of the trail is at Colorado Way midway between Arizona Trail and Jerome Jct. There is a nicer constructed trailhead about a mile up the trail on Perkinsville Rd. The trail is wide and smooth, with varying types of gravel and cinder along its length.

The scenery is not as spectacular as the Prescott Peavine Trail through the dells, but is still nice rolling grasslands with the town of Chino Valley visible a few miles west. The slope is gentle and continuous all the way. There are mileage signs every 0.25 miles.

The trail officially terminates at the south trailhead on Rd 4 S. The railroad grade continues south, but a locked gate blocks the way. Hopefully in the future, the trail will continue south. The return trip is back the same way.
