Description

Cutthroat is a relatively new add that parallels Hermosa Parkway and has views behind Purgatory Resort. It was developed to allow for eMTB (class I only) and so it has long sight lines. Starting from the upper reach on Cascade Divide Road, the trail trends down with the exception of a couple moderate climbs.

There is one short stream crossing that is HAB with steep entry/exit. The trail currently (as of 2022) spits you out at Sig Creek Campground so you have about a mile of road to access the upper Hermosa trailhead and the start of Hermosa Creek Trail or continue up the road to do classic loops off the Colorado Trail. Or you can start from Sig Creek and climb the trail to the top then turn around and bomb it back to your vehicle.

Note that beginner riders will most likely encounter short HAB sections if starting from Sig and riding to the top. This trail is mostly smooth but there are some short, steeper sections in that direction.

Note that this is open grazing area for cows.
