Need a permit if it's an overnight trip.

Need to Know

You cannot park at the Ranger Station and must start just outside of the park. Check in with the ranger at Hans Flat Station where you start the ride.

Description

Jeep road that has very limited sand depending on the time of year. Isolation abounds.

This one-day ride is 30 miles out and back or turn around where you want. Or camp out at one of the campsites available through the permit system, best! Good two-track Jeep road with some hardpan slickrock pans to negotiate. Very few sand traps.

Great ride to view The Maze and several landmarks. As a side trip, you can ride down the Flint Trail and try to ride back up it! It's very difficult. This is very hot in summer, don't do it. Carry enough water and be prepared.
