“One of the most scenic paved trails in the Pacific Northwest with outstanding views of the ocean/grassy dunes.
”
The only bike-accessible trail in Cape Disappointment State Park.
Description
Following in the steps of Lewis and Clark's explorative trek here more than 200 years ago, you'll find a few bronze sculptures along the path that commemorate the expedition (assuming the locals have not since removed them for political reasons).
This trail offers up a great collection of other impressive public art that will likely stand the test of time and politics. You may also be lucky enough to see a few deer, eagles, and other wildlife along the way.
From 26th Street in Long Beach, you go south along the coast. For no reason at all, the trail parallels the city's extensive wooden boardwalk from Bolstad Street to Sid Snyder Drive. Keep going through the small town of Seaview to meet up with N. Head Road.
You have options:
Head northeast to the historical fishing village of Ilwaco or head south at the fork to enter Cape Disappointment.
