Overview

For those who want to ride the full South Boundary descent, but don't want to shuttle all the way up FR76 or FR437, this route is the classic self-serve option. Either shuttle, or hitchhike (or ride) the pavement to the Valle Escondido community, then ascend up Forest Road 70 to the Elliot Barker Trail #1 (or #Juan) which hits the South Boundary Trail just before Osha Pass.

Need to Know

Park at the bottom of FR437 about a quarter mile up the Valle Escondido road. Please be respectful of private land as you head toward the FR70 climb.

FR70 is a motorized route.

Description

Know this: it's a little over 2,000 feet of climbing up FR70 and TR1 to Osha Pass. So while the shuttle is easy, the ride is not.
