Need to Know

This area is popular with dirt bikers and ATV riders, especially during hunting season in the fall.

Description

Starting from the first left fork off Wash Creek Rd. (FS690), head up Horn Creek Rd. (FS 652). Climb the steep, well-traveled grade to the ridgeline, staying right at all forks.

Once on the ridge, the views open up and the grade eases for a while. Enjoy this high traverse that includes a couple more punchy climbs before reaching the high point of the trail.

The "back side" of this trail is much less traveled, but ATV riders have recently cleared all the fallen trees so the descent is great fun. Stay on your toes - there are plenty of off-camber ruts and sandy patches to keep things interesting.

Once you reach the creek-bottom, a more mellow downhill section takes you back to a steep bank where you pop out on Wash Creek Rd. again.
