Need to Know

There are several other small stretches of singletrack located off of the paved trail to the north. Montgomery County Parks is also working to build more miles of natural surface trail in the Paint Branch Trail corridor.

Description

Look for a new metal and wood bridge crossing Paint Branch from the existing paved path at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Park.

The trail climbs and winds up onto the hillside and parallels Rte 29 before dipping down and underneath the overpass. This dirt trail is beginner-friendly but designed to be fun for all riders.

The trail ends as a decommissioned bridge on Old Columbia Pike. The bridge is still open to bikes and pedestrians but closed to cars. From here, you can reverse your route, or head south through the neighborhoods (crossing New Hampshire Ave) to access the Northwest Branch Trail.
