Need to Know

There is parking available in downtown Hot Springs for free and at the Ski Lodge. You can connect from one end to the other by using the North-South Connector and following the cart path around the driving range to 220 or vice versa.

Description

Begin at the northern end of South Trail: Section 1 and head north into the Sheep Meadow area. After crossing the road and two wooden pedestrian bridges, the trail quickly steepens and heads up to a pond. Beautiful views from the pond! Turn left and you'll head uphill through a yard (yes, this is the actual trail) to a paved road, turn left at the intersection of Falconry Ridge, then follow onto the gravel road and follow along the power line.

The gravel ends at a paved road, turn left, then immediately left again. The path will roughly follow the power line for a few hundred yards, and end at Talbotts Lane. Turn left and follow to the bottom of the hill and Rt 220. Turn left on the path just before 220 along the golf course. Cross 220 at Dunn's Gap road follow to Deerlick road. Turn left just past the golf course snack shop and follow the wooded trail parallel to the golf course. There are sections that run very close to the golf course almost like a cart path.

The trail returns to the woods and intersects with Deerlick Trail, then reconnects with the golf course before some switchbacks and its termination in downtown Hot Springs.

In the opposite direction, begin at Snead's Tavern and go up the steps off 220. You'll climb quickly from the road until you reach the golf course. Follow the directions above in reverse. This is the preferred direction of local riders as it makes a nice loop with the southern trail sections.

After you pass the pond and begin the descent, be careful as it gets steep and technical with some sizable rocks.

Mostly gravel ride with a few singletrack spots and some pavement. Final section before coming into Hot Springs proper was fun, but short. 2.9mi — 1h 00m
