Description

Besides access to Turkey Mountain from east Tulsa, this paved trail's bridges over the Arkansas River at S. 71st Street, S. 21st Street and at S. 11th Street provide key ped/bike access.

The trail begins near the Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza at Riverside Parkway and historic Route 66. A dedicated bike/ped bridge, roofed for protection from the I-244 traffic above, crosses to the west bank of the Arkansas River.

The trail runs downstream past the River West Festival Park, the power plant, and the refinery without any at-grade crossings to the Skelly Bypass bridge. The Cherry Creek Trail provides access to the west. Amenities along the way include the River Skate Park, River Parks Kayak Access, and the West Bank Soccer Complex.

The two-mile segment from the Skelly Bypass to the Turkey Mountain Park center is well shaded. There is an at-grade road crossing and an at-grade rail crossing in the segment. The steepest grades on the trail are the approaches to the Turkey Mountain Park center, where water and restrooms are available.

The trail then runs east on the north side of S. 71st Street across the bridge to end at the Riverparks East Bank Trail, providing the opportunity for a looped hike or bike journey.

This is a lap on Froflo at Turkey Mountain. I rode around all the obstacles, but the video shows what riders can expect on the trail.
