Pinkham Mtn. Trailhead closed to motor vehicles December 2 - May 31st. Bicycles may use the forest roads and trails in Routt NF all year long, but must enter NF land by bicycle (or on foot) during December 2 - May 31st.

Need to Know

Please note restricted access for motor vehicles Dec. 2nd to May 31st. No restrictions for cyclists or hikers.

Description

Begin at Pinkham Mountain Trailhead, and head westbound along Forest Road 895. You'll have some climbs and will pass through some aspen groves before the terrain opens up to sloped sagebrush ravines. There are a few great camping spots overlooking the North Platte River, looking westward at the snowy Mt. Zirkel range.

If you choose to ride all the way down to the river, the fly fishing is excellent, and the river about waist high in the deeper spots.
