Description
Stoneroller connects the Stoneroller Trailhead and the Archey Fork Trailhead (campsites, swimming area, canoe launch) on the lower loop of the Bluffton Preserve Multi-Use Trail System. It is fun and challenging as a climb, and even more fun going downhill!
Starting at the Stoneroller Trailhead, you'll head west across Watergate Rd. and follow the trail through a cedar thicket. The trail pops out onto an old roadbed and gains speed down the hill. A large left-hand berm puts you onto the edge of the bluff and into some short ups and downs.
After a very narrow hand-cut section, you'll pop out onto bare rock and follow big sections of bluff for roughly half a mile. The riding is easy, but it is exposed and could be dangerous if you were to fall in the wrong place. When you near the end of the bluff line, you'll come to a nice long slab rock roll with many optional roll lines. Choose your line and follow the rest of the bluff out to a road crossing.
Straight across the road, the trail continues to flow along the forested floodplain until you pop out at the Archey Fork campsites and trailhead.
