Trail is managed by the First Landing State Park and subject to operating hours.

Need to Know

The First Landing State Park has operating hours and charges for parking cars.

Description

The First Landing State Park is home to an exciting bundle of nice views, trails, and history. The only trail on which bikes are permitted is the Cape Henry Trail. The trail actually starts in the neighborhood to the west of the park as a paved walking/biking path.

About a mile or so into the park, it changes from a paved path to a wide, flat dirt path with a bunch of small spurs and alternate routes branching off of it (no bikes allowed on those). When the trail crosses the 64th street entrance road, it becomes much more narrow and sandy in some spots so a novice biker will begin to be more challenged by the terrain.

It finally ends at a parking lot by the water.

Cold and blustery day, but the forest blocked the worst of the wind.
