Mountain bike riding is usually permitted on any public trail in France (do check for local exceptions). These trails are best found using the French IGN 1:25,000 map series TOP RANDO.

Description

Handy and quick off-road drop from Bettex to St Gervais or onto Le Fayet train station.

If you do this during the off-season (no lift running from St Gervais) then you'll have a long, steep pedal back up the hill. In season (July to September) you can take the cable car back to Bettex from St Gervais or book a bike-carrying taxi. We've used this to catch the train to Col des Montets and then ridden the length of the Chamonix valley back to Fayet.
